In the summer of 2020 I started a mutual aid group in my hometown of Dallas with a couple of North Texas based community organizers in order to raise funds for DFW residents in need of pandemic and protest assistance. In just June and July of 2020 we were able to raise and redistribute $13.7K to community members! That fall I took more of an advisory role due to other commitments but I’m extremely proud of what the organization (and other North Texas based mutual aid groups) have been able to accomplish, especially during the Texas Winter storm of 2021.

Develop for Good
I was a participant in Develop for Good’s Winter and Spring ‘21 cohorts.
I was paired with Tax-Aid, an organization which provides free tax services for households in the SF Bay Area earning less than $57K. As the product manager, I worked with designers and developers to update and implement key data products such as impact dashboards and volunteer tracker forms.
COVID Straight Talk
CST was a project from Last Mile, a nonprofit aimed at protecting communities most vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID Straight Talk is a public health campaign aimed at educating the public on how the virus spreads through the air and providing resources for essential workers on how to to protect themselves in the workplace. CST was funded by the Urban Justice Center.
I was a member of their data working group where we created and implemented a survey which provided customized recommendations for essential workers on how to stay safe in the workplace. In addition, I was also responsible for reporting on CST’s website analytics.
